Boarding FAQ's

Top 10 Reasons to Board Your
Dog at Jagger's Doggie Daycare:

1. State-of-the-Art Outdoor Facilities.

Jaggers features 3 Pet Turf Playgrounds outside, which the dogs react to like real grass, but the Turf has so many advantages. The Pet Turf eliminates muddy paws, and is much softer and safer on paw pads than concrete runs, rock, or pea gravel, all of which can create a variety of health concerns (Some dogs can ingest pea gravel and many dogs will not potty on concrete). With Pet Turf, there is no concern about fleas or ticks that can be lurking in real grass. Jagger's is the only dog boarding facility in Mount Vernon, Illinois that has 3 Pet Turf Playgrounds, which are easily sanitized daily with Wyshi-Wash to eliminate 99% of bacteria and germs. We shade the Turf playgrounds in the summertime while adding swimming pools to keep the pets cooler, and each of the play groups are always supervised by our large staff. When your dog boards at Jagger's, they are rotated within their assigned play groups from outside to inside (as long as they are spayed or neutered). Therefore they are only in their cozy Kennel Suites when they are sleeping or eating. The Sun Shades are important in the heat, and enables the dogs to do their business and play outdoors safely in the summertime. (See our rates in the table below)

2. Top-Notch Indoor Facilities.

Jagger's features Ceramic Tile floors in our play rooms so that the dogs feel more at home. The indoor playrooms are also supervised by staff INSIDE each room, rather than watching through windows. We also have (5) different sizes of Boarding Suites, all of which have privacy panels to reduce anxiety and eliminate fighting/growls between Suites. Each Suite features cozy Kuranda Beds and private stainless steel bowls for food and water. We also have Commercial Grade Air Purification units in each boarding area as well as santizing devices inside our HVAC ductwork, all of which combines to maintain clean air and reduce the potential for air-borne illnesses to develop. Jagger's is the only boarding facility in Mount Vernon with 30 Survellience Cameras for additional security measures and safety. We also feature Ceramic Tile floors and five different sizes of Professional Brand Boarding Suites. We never do "open room" boarding. That concept is much too dangerous and makes dogs very nervous. At Jagger's, every dog has a Private Suite, for safety purposes, and to be able to rest comfortably. Private Suites also prevent "unwanted mating" of dogs which unfortunately has occurred elsewhere in facilities with open room boarding (no Kennel Suites). That will not happen at Jagger's. We always separate intact dogs from "group" play, and every boarding dog has their own Suite with privacy panels. (Family dogs can still stay together in the same Suite, if requested)

3. Large Staff of (16) Adults to provide lots of loving and attention to your pet.

Jagger's features the largest staff of any dog boarding facility in the Mount Vernon area. Many of these people have been with us for multiple years. This fact assures you that your dog is receiving quality care, and that the ratio of pets-to-people is far better than the national average. Our staff members provide supervision of all play groups both INSIDE the playrooms as well as outside on our Pet Turf playground. We do not rely on watching dogs through windows. That is much too risky. Our staff is always in the play groups. Safety is our #1 priority. Each of our employees is equipped with a leash, digital walkie talkie and whistle, while on duty, for fast communication with other staff members, and we always have a pig board nearby to separate any dogs that engage in rough play. Jagger's is a member of the IBPSA (International Boarding & Pet Services Association). Through this industry-leading organization, our staff has participated in and completed dog behavior training, so we can better understand body language of dogs, warning signals of distress and aggression, and how to handle a variety of scenarios that can occur in a dog group. Most importantly, we are all dog owners like you, so we really love and care for the dogs. You can see this evidence in the photos that we post on Facebook each day, and during a personal tour of our facility. Yes, we offer a tour of our facility on weekdays while Daycare is in session. Other facilities might refuse to give you a tour in the back part of their facility where the dogs are, which should be a red flag for you. We encourage new customers to take a tour of our facility at Jagger's. You can see our policies and guidelines in action, and meet our large staff any day of the week at Jagger's Doggie Daycare.

4. Safety and Security is our #1 Priority.

We have multiple safety gates throughout the building at Jagger's to control the flow and movement of dogs safely, so that large dogs don't end up mixing with small dogs, etc. Our outdoor play areas have "lean-to" fencing along the top perimeter to prevent "climbers" and "jumpers" from escaping our facility. You will also see a safety gate and fence at our main entrance door to prevent "door dashing" by a dog. Most facilities are not equipped with this safety feature at the main entrance. We also have TWO separate hallways that lead into the lobby for pick-ups which enables us to move dogs safer and prevent the chance of an unwanted large dog/small dog encounter. We mentioned previously that we have (30) surveillance cameras which record to a DVR. We feel that is very important. Some facilites do not have cameras, which can be really problematic. Jagger's also has fire alarms, smoke alarms, CO-2 alarms, and burglar alarms, all of which are tied directly into the Police & Fire Departments, which are only five blocks away. Our location at 414 Main Street is situated CLOSER to the Police & Fire Departments than any other dog boarding facility in Mount Vernon. Again, Safety & Security are top priorities at Jagger's Doggie Daycare. Here is a LINK to a video about many of our Safety featues: https://youtu.be/mW10hZ5y9EA

5. We post photos of the dogs in our care every day on our Facebook page

These photos give you piece of mind while you are out of town, away from your pet. Jump on our Facebook page anytime and take a look at all of the photo albums. Many times we upload them by size of dog, (Smaller or Larger) so it is easier to find your pet. Here is a direct LINK to our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/JaggersDoggieDaycare and we also have a Free APP that you can download from the APP store. With the Jagger's APP, you can request boarding, upload vaccination records, upload a photo of your pet, utilize coupons, loyalty options, see dogs available for adoption and more.

6. Medicine and Feeding Schedule follows your precise directions.

When you check-in at Jagger's, we ask you about your dog being on medicine, and how your dog is fed. That information is recorded in two different places for redundancy and accuracy. We then follow your directions on that feeding and medicine schedule. We are also equipped to give insulin shots, if a pet comes to us that is diabetic. Medical handling fees apply.

7. Emergency Care through Veterinarians is available.

If a medical crisis were to arise during your dog's stay, we have established relationships with several local and area Veterinarians so that your dog can receive care, even if you are away. It is vital that you provide to us an "Emergency Contact Person" that we can reach out to, in the event that you are not able to be reached by phone. If your dog has issues while boarding with us, we will make you aware of it. We have Veterinarians who are regular customers at Jagger's and they use our services frequently as a customer.

8. Optional Exit Baths & Dog Grooming Services Available.

If you would like for your dog to receive an "Exit Bath" or any other dog grooming service while it is boarding with us, we are happy to provide these services upon request. Normal Bath & Grooming fees apply. This can include a Full Groom, Sanitary Trim, De Shed Bath, Nail Trim, Nail Grind, Teeth Brushing, or standard bath and brush. You tell us what you need, and we can schedule it just before they are ready to go home with you.

9. Long List of Satisfied Customers.

Jagger's has a successful track record of nearly 8 years in business here in Mt Vernon. Hundreds of satisfied customers have utilized the boarding services at Jagger's Doggie Daycare and many of these people have been regulars for Daycare, Grooming, or Training too. You can read many Positive Reviews about our services online from a variety of customers, and you can also talk to current customers about their experience with us. The fact that we have so many repeat customers speaks volumes about our facility, our staff, and our customer service. We also have former employees who still come back to board their dog with us, because they know how well their pet will be cared for. At Jagger's, we strive for 100% customer satisfaction. We are one of the few dog boarding facilities that will actually give you a tour, because we have nothing to hide. We actually have a staff of (16) people, we don't just "say" we have staff. We want you to see the difference, and understand the loving care that we provide and the state-of-the-art facility we offer for your pet to enjoy.

10. Accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

Jagger's Doggie Daycare has a A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau. We have been in business since 2015 and our BBB file actually opened in April of 2016. We have hundreds of satisfied customers in the area, many of whom are repeat customers. Our clients come to Jagger's from as far away as St Louis, Effingham, Anna-Jonesboro, and Carmi to board their precious pets with us in our unique facilities. We love and care for your dog's just like our own dogs. We invite you to stop by and see "the Jagger's Difference" for yourself.

1. We provide a Kuranda Bed to every dog, so they don't necessarily need a bed, unless you just have one that they "always" sleep on every night.  We also have blankets available, if they are used to having one, so no need to bring a blanket.  Some dogs "shred" blankets, so let us know if your dog has this shredding tendancy and whether or not your dog uses a blanket.  We keep the rooms climate-controlled around 72 degrees year round.

2.  Please Limit TWO TOYS only.  They should be a hard plastic or well-made stuffed toy.  Please do NOT bring a rope toy or anything made of rawhide that can cause potential health issue if ingested.

3.  Please bring your dog in on a collar and a leash.  We suggest leaving flea collars at home.

4.  DOG FOOD.  Please measure out and provide your dog's food in "Zip Lock" Bags.  It makes the feeding process much easier and accurate for our staff. Use a Black marker and write your dog's name on each bag.  Please do NOT bring us a large 30 lb bag of dog food.  Space is limited.

5.  Medication.  If your dog is on required medication, bring it and inform us of the proper dosing.  There is a small medical handling fee for adminstering medicine due to the extra time involved.  We don't simply put it in their food.  We make certain they take it with a treat, pill pocket, or piece of bread.  NOTE:  We carry multiple strengths of CBD Oil if your dog has a nervous nature and needs a "calming" effect, we can provide CBD oil upon request, as needed.

It depends upon the size (weight) of your dog and the size of Kennel Suite you prefer (based upon availability).  We have five different sizes of Kennel Suites available.  Prices start at $34 per night for our smallest Suites.  Our Standard Suites (4’ x 4’) are limited to dogs 30lbs or less due to space. We also have Queen size in (6’ x 4’ as well as 5' x 5'); King size (8’ x 4’); Super King (6’ x 6’); and Presidential Suites that are (9’ x 9’).  The Presidential Suites also include Free Cable TV tuned to the channel of your choice.  Rates can vary slightly during PEAK holiday seasons due to demand (just like hotels).

We require a deposit of 50% toward your expected boarding cost.
This deposit is non-refundable if cancelled 10 days or less prior to your scheduled boarding date. A credit will be placed on your account for future use, if you cancel 10 days or less before your scheduled boarding date.

At Jagger’s, the boarding experience includes FREE daycare/playtime during the day ($23 value) so your dog will be assigned to a play group both inside the playrooms as well as outside on the Pet Turf playground (as long as they are not intact).  The boarding dogs are only in their Kennel Suite for meals, naps, medicine, or overnight sleeping.  Each Kennel Suite includes a cozy Kuranda bed, blanket (if they aren’t chewers), privacy panel, stainless steel food bowl and water bowl, soft music, heating and air conditioning, air purification, security cameras, CO-2 detectors, smoke detectors, and motion detectors all tied in directly to the police and fire departments which are only 5 blocks away.  The Presidential Suites include Free Cable TV and ceramic tile. VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW:  All of the dogs at Jagger's enjoy an outside area on artificial Pet Turf to do their potty business.  They also get to play during the day, at no extra charge. Dogs think the turf is real grass, but there are many advantages because the Pet Turf is free of germs, mud, ticks, and fleas that can harm them.  If you take your dog to an old-style traditional Kennel, they only offer potty time on concrete slabs and often have no place to actively play.  Many dogs will not potty on concrete at all, plus it can burn their paw pads in the summer time. (All Prices are Per Night and includes Free
Daycare) COMPARE our facility to others, enjoy a tour, and take time to compare much more than just the price. Jagger's Doggie Daycare is the ONLY dog boarding facility in Mt Vernon with 3 Pet Turf playgrounds. You truly get what you pay for at Jagger's and you quickly realize that Safety and Cleanliness are the top priorities at our facility.  We also have the largest staff of any boarding facility in Jefferson County (16 adults), therefore the ratio of people-to-dogs remains safe at all times.

Yes you can, as long as the dogs are accustom to sleeping together in a smaller environment on a nightly basis.  For safety purposes, they must be from the same home, under the same roof to stay in the same Suite.  For example, we cannot place your dog in the same Kennel Suite as your brother's dog or your cousin's dog from another home.  That won't work, because it is dangerous.  In that example, your dog and your relative's dog would need to stay in separate Kennel Suites, for safety purposes.

Yes, if they qualify by being from the same home and accustom to sleeping together every night in a small area, then there is a multi-dog discount on the second dog or third dog in the same Kennel Suite.  All of the boarding pricing is available on the Nightly Dog Boarding page of our website.  There have been some instances in the past where family dogs staying together in the same Suite, don't jive together after about 4 days of boarding, creating a safety risk.  If that occurs, we will separate them into individual Kennel Suites at night, for safety purposes.  This will likely affect your total boarding bill, slightly.  Our priority is safety.

If you wait to pick-up after 12 Noon on a weekday, there is a half-day daycare charge of $16 because we have had to keep space available to your dog and provide daycare supervision. We open on weekdays at 7:30am.  You can pick-up anytime before 12Noon on weekdays without incurring any additional charge.
The Saturday Pick-up and Drop-Off times is 9:00am to 11:00am.
The Sunday Pick-up and Drop-Off times is also 9:00am to 11:00am.

There is a small medical handling fee if we have to administer medicine or do injections.
If you do not bring dog food, there will be a daily charge for “house” food that we provide.
If we have to take your dog to the veterinarian, there will be a transportation fee.
If your dog is overly aggressive and becomes a threat to our staff, there will be a handling fee.
If you would like for your dog to have an Exit Bath or nail trim, there will be an additional charge for the bath and nail trim at normal rates.
All of these add-on fees are fair and customary in the pet boarding industry.

There is no limit of days.  However, Kennel space is subject to availability. If you are boarding your dog for 30 days or more, there is a multi-date discount.

Yes, we require a 50% deposit if you have never boarded with us before.  We accept cash, debit card, credit card and check.

We require current documented vaccines for Rabies, DHLLP combo (Parvo & Distemper), Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and we strongly recommend Canine Influenza.  If for some reason your veterinarian doesn’t offer the Bordetella vaccine or Canine Flu vaccine (some don’t have it in stock) you can always get those two vaccines at ANY veterinarian in Mount Vernon.  They all stock it, because they all know our boarding policy.

We care about the health & safety of your dog.  It is our top priority.  There was a severe outbreak of Canine Flu in Chicago and St Louis 3 years ago, which killed multiple dogs.  We believe that is too close for comfort, so we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Canine Flu vaccine.  Since it has now been 3 years, we no longer require it, but we still get it for our own dogs and we continue to recommend it to everyone.  Many customers tell us that it gives them comfort in knowing that when they bring their dog to us, every dog staying at Jagger’s is up-to-date on their vaccinations.  We occasionally have dogs stay with us at Jagger's who travel in from out-of-state.  Since we don't know those dogs well, or where they have been, it gives us all more piece of mind in knowing they have been vaccinated properly for Rabies, DHLLP, Bordetella, and most have the Canine Flu vaccine.

We require all shots/vaccinations to be done by a licensed Veterinarian and documented proof provided.  There is a multitude of reasons why nobody should vaccinate their own dog.

Yes, they can.  However, they will not be permitted to interact with other dogs in group play.  They will go into a play area or outside by themselves, along with our Kennel Attendant. They are placed into a rotation to go outside regularly, under supervision.  We do this because dogs that are not "fixed" can sometimes be a safety issue.  Too many Hormones and Testosterone involved when they are not spayed or neutered that could lead to a sudden altercation with another dog or if not supervised and separated a dog could get pregnant, which has happened at another facility in this community.  Safety is our priority at Jagger's.  If you have a female dog that goes into heat, while boarding, she will have to leave immediately.  We require you to provide an "Emergency Contact" person and their phone number when you board your dog with us, who will be contacted if any health or safety issue should arise.

First of all, call us at (618) 316-7021 and check your available dates.  We are the busiest boarding facility in the region, due to our nice accommodations and safety policies, so we book up fast every weekend.  We require a 50% deposit if you have not boarded with us before.
Secondly, you should make certain that your dog is up-to-date on the shots/vaccinations that we require at Jagger's.
Finally, we strongly suggest that you bring your dog in for a Full-day of daycare, so that they can become familiar with the surroundings, the staff, and enable us to do a temperament test to evaluate your dog for potential group play.  Doing this will enable your dog to adjust to our environment very quickly when you drop them off for boarding, because they will already be familiar with the routine and environment at Jagger's.  You will also need to fill out our "Boarding Registration Form" which you can find at this link:

http://www.jaggersdoggiedaycare.com/system/images/BoardingRegistrationForm1.pdf

The Vaccination Records, Deposit, and Boarding Registration Forms MUST be done before we can hold a reservation for your boarding date(s).

Yes, we require a 50% deposit if you have never boarded with us before.  We accept cash, debit card, credit card and check.

What shots/vaccinations are required to board my dog at Jagger’s?
We require current documented vaccines for Rabies, DHLLP combo (Parvo & Distemper), Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and we strongly recommend Canine Influenza.  If for some reason your veterinarian doesn’t offer the Bordetella vaccine or Canine Flu vaccine (some don’t have it in stock) you can always get those two vaccines at ANY veterinarian in Mount Vernon.  They all stock it, because they all know our boarding policy.

What if my dog is not spayed or neutered, can they still board at Jagger’s?

I am wanting to board my dog at Jagger's while I am gone on an upcoming business trip or vacation, what should I do first to prepare for this?
First of all, call us at (618) 316-7021 and check your available dates.  We are the busiest boarding facility in the region, due to our nice accommodations and safety policies, so we book up fast every weekend.  We require a 50% deposit if you have not boarded with us before.

The Vaccination Records, Deposit, and Boarding Registration Forms MUST be done before we can hold a reservation for your boarding date(s).

What time is the Drop-Off and Pick-Up availability on the Weekend?
The Saturday Pick-up and Drop-Off times is 9:00am to 11:00am.
The Sunday Pick-up and Drop-Off times is also 9:00am to 11:00am.

That is fine, UNLESS we are filled to capacity and have turned others away.  If that occurs, then you will still be responsible to pay for the 7th day of boarding because we held the Kennel Suite for you, while turning others away.  This scenario will usually play out around every major holiday as well as the busy weekends of Summer vacation and Spring Break.  Again, we will will only charge you for early pick-up a day early, if we are filled to capacity.  That is fair to both parties.

You MUST provide documentation of your dog's up-to-date vaccinations as stated above.
We also ask that you provide Dog Food pre-measured in "Zip Lock" bags and label each bag with your dog's name using a black marker. Please do NOT bring us a 30lbs bag of dog food as food preparation space is limited. Bring your dog in with a Leash & Collar.  We prefer you leave any flea collar you have, at home.  Limit 2 Toys per dog.  No bowls needed and no blanket needed, we provide both.  We have Kuranda Beds which are super comfy, but if your dog is accustomed to sleeping on a personal bed each night, you can bring it and we will place that on top pof our Kuranda bed.  If your dog is on medication, bring it along as well and provide dosing instructions to us.

Absolutely not, no way!  Those plastic collars are a nuisance in our environment.  They will likely get tugged and pulled off by playful dogs and we do not want to be responsible for them, so leave your Soresto collars at home.  If your dog shows up wearing a Seresto collar, YOU will have to remove it and take it with you, or your dog cannot stay with us.
